The majority of our articles are organic covers of early-stage startups we find interesting. However, once in a while, a startup will pay to be featured for a number of reasons. The company either has:

  • An upcoming launch or feature they want to highlight

  • A crowdfunding or other funding raise they want to publicize to the Unicorner audience

  • A deadline they need to be featured by (we don’t normally allow startups to choose when they’ll be featured)

One important thing to note: we never cover a company we don’t believe in (sponsored or not). If a company is on Unicorner, it meets our criteria for a Unicorner cover.

17(b) Disclosures

By law, if we’re advertising a company’s crowdfunding or other equity round, we have to disclose which covers we were paid for, and how much we were paid. As of April 1, 2024, here is a list of crowdfunding advertisements we’ve been compensated for (additional fees may have accrued since then):

  • July 31, 2023: Unicorner was compensated $800 by Jurny for publicizing its Wefunder round

  • February 12, 2024 and February 19, 2024: Unicorner was compensated $2,500 by Zette for publicizing its Wefunder round

  • April 15, 2024 and May 20, 2024: Unicorner was compensated $700 by RYSE for publicizing its Wefunder round
