🦄 Looking back at 2023
✍️ Notes from the Editors
Today’s article is brought to you by Jotform. Save on all your form needs this holiday season.
Happy holidays from the Unicorner editorial team! 🎄
If you’re like us and you’re still thinking work stuff over the break, take a breather and walk away from it all. But only after you’ve read through today’s special edition. 😉
It’s been quite a year for us. Behind the scenes, we:
Grew over three times in size from where we were in January
Had hundreds of thousands of email views
Ran our first event in San Francisco, and continued coffee chats in Los Angeles
Met with awesome founders, investors, students, and operators all year round 🙌
To celebrate the end of the year, we’re featuring our top contenders for best startups of 2023. Take a second to vote for your favorite at the end of this email. If you had one you particularly liked that wasn’t featured, reply letting us know!
Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or joined last week, we’re grateful for you. Here’s to an amazing 2024 ahead. 🚀
#5: Jurny Managing Airbnbs can be the headache of a lifetime, and Jurny makes it easy. Jurny became one of the first companies to get a second cover in Unicorner history. After their initial coverage in 2022, Luca and his team introduced AI into their hospitality management platform. We had the privilege to exclusively detail their crowdfunding campaign, which raised almost $3 million. |
#4: 1Fort In this day and age, cyber insurance shouldn’t have to be difficult. At the same time, we’re seeing more and more data breaches and customer data lost to hackers than ever before. 1Fort is automating the process of finding the best insurance provider for medium-to-large size businesses, enabling an essential component of all tech companies going forward in 2024. Check out Derek Wong’s entire article for more on what makes 1Fort Unicorner material. |

#3: Roots Roots has it all—a promising team, an exciting idea, and the potential to revolutionize millions of lives. As contributor Hrishi Jadhav writes, “The biggest path to wealth in the United States is through homeownership, and with rising housing prices, interest rates, and inflation combined with wages that have not kept up to par, that goal is becoming either unattainable or increasingly elusive.” Roots is a perfectly fitting glove for this problem, and we’re excited to see such a mission-driven company succeed. |
#2: Zette Nobody likes paywalls when reading articles. Zette was built with the understanding that one subscription should handle all your article-reading needs when browsing the web. After making it to #2 product of the day on Product Hunt earlier this year, adoption has quickly spread, making Zette’s one-click-unlock article viewer a promising tool for how we consume content. |

#1: Beehiiv It wouldn’t be 2023 without Beehiiv. Since switching to the Beehiiv platform earlier this year, we’ve seen first-hand just how promising Beehiiv is.
