StartEngine’s Blockbuster Year: How You Can Join the Action Before Our June Deadline

StartEngine is the platform allowing accredited investors to gain exposure to some of the world’s most coveted private companies like OpenAI, Perplexity, and Databricks — without paying millions.

Not surprisingly, they just posted new blockbuster financials:

📈 Revenue doubled year-over-year ($23M -> $48M)

They’ve been building something big, and the results speak for themselves.

The even better part? The window is open (but closing soon) for you to join their latest funding round. Over 50,000 have invested $84+ million in StartEngine — and now you can get in on the action before this round closes next month. Investments start as low as $500.

📈 Traction and Fundraising

  • Raised a pre-seed round led by Memex CEO David Valerio Gilmore himself and investors from his previous ventures

  • 10,000 projects built by users in just three days after launching

👫 Founder Story

Memex is built by the team behind DataFleets, a privacy tech company acquired for over $100 million less than three years after founding. The company is led by CEO David Valerio Gilmore, a Stanford dropout and veteran founder passionate about enabling non-developers to build the tools they need. The remainder of the founding team brings a variety of technical and business talent to the table: Eitan Rovero-Shein scaled DataFleets to $10 million+ ARR post-acquisition by LiveRamp, Marcin Adamowski architected the company's privacy-preserving analytics platform, and Chi Lǎng Ngô engineered its core federated SQL engine.

🔮 Our Analysis

The AI coding assistant market has exploded recently, with tools aimed at developers like Cursor achieving $9 billion valuations and Windsurf being acquired for $3 billion. Adjacent tools for building web applications with no code at all, like Lovable and Bolt, have taken off in popularity. Memex takes yet another approach; rather than only support web applications, it lets non-developers build any kind of application as it fits into their needs.

Memex represents a paradigm shift in software development by targeting what CEO David Gilmore calls "the bottom of the iceberg"—the vast universe of specialized applications needed by domain experts who lack coding skills. For example, doctors may want computer help with looking over imaging to find abnormalities, or small business owners may need help automating the Excel spreadsheet they use for orders. This insight is deeply personal for CEO David Gilmore, who experienced this gap firsthand while developing AI systems for cancer detection, where doctors needed specialized software but couldn't code it themselves.

The team's technical excellence in AI/ML, combined with their proven execution ability, creates a powerful foundation to deliver a missing piece of a quickly growing market. Memex has seen great initial traction following its public launch, validating the existence of its target market. With such a capable team and exciting upside potential, Memex is realizing the next level of vibe coding.
