Superpower
All-in-one health tracking

The “Don’t Die” movement is (seemingly) always trending.
In the background, enthusiasm around anti-aging is not-so-quietly fostering startups that give you control over your own healthcare. Startups like Superpower are building on that layer of control by making relevant lab tests accessible.
ICYMI: things are looking a bit different here at Unicorner. We launched a redesign last week!

Superpower is a health platform that aims to increase longevity, prevent disease, and increase physical performance. It screens for 100+ biomarkers, such as markers for longevity, heart, thyroid, and metabolic health, through bi-annual blood tests. Members can store and track health data including electronic health records, family history, and lab results on its platform. Members can also create a personalized plan for improving health by consulting with a 24/7 health concierge.

Superpower operates on a subscription model that costs $499 annually and is HSA/FSA eligible.

Raised $30 million Series A led by Forerunner, with participation from Day One Ventures, Susa Ventures, Long Journey Ventures, The Family Fund, Opal Ventures, Valia Ventures, Visible Ventures, and Winklevoss Capital and celebrity backers including Logan Paul, Vanessa Hudgens, Steve Aoki, and Giannis Antetokounmpo
Previously had a waitlist of ~200,000 people, with 150,000 sign-ups in just six months

From the age of 8 to 18, Max Marchione experienced multiple health complications, including chronic sinusitis and migraines. Despite undergoing surgeries and constantly being put on medication, these issues remained unresolved. After visiting dozens of doctors without success, he found what he called a “10x doctor” (think 10x engineer) who diagnosed and treated the root cause of his health problems. This experience opened his eyes to the disparity between the quality of healthcare that the elite receive compared to the rest of society.
As large language models emerged in 2022, he saw an opportunity to innovate. He met Jacob Peters, a fellow health-obsessed venture capitalist building similar startups, and decided to join forces rather than compete. Together with Kevin Unkrich, their technical lead, they formed the founding team.

Superpower is at the intersection of high-growth healthcare sectors, including personalized and preventative medicine, longevity, and biomarkers. The global biomarkers market alone reached an estimated $77.6 billion in 2024 and is projected to hit $244.8 billion by 2034 (around 12% CAGR). Furthermore, the personalized medicine space is on track to expand from roughly $567 billion in 2024 to 1,196.18 billion by 2033 (CAGR of 8.80%).
Superpower’s value proposition is its cost-effective way to make preventative healthcare more accessible. Whereas most lab checkups will conduct 10 to 30 lab tests, Superhuman conducts over 100 tests across 17 core areas of health. These results are made into a precise and personalized action plan that members can access from an easy-to-use interface.

While other companies might share Superpower’s vision, none have been able to capture the public’s mindshare quite like it. The demand is most clearly demonstrated by the unprecedented number of people on its waitlist, which has received over 150,000 signups in only six months. In addition to having a customer base waiting to try the product, this interest has unlocked economies of scale that enable it to acquire supplies such as lab tests at a cheaper price point that enables it to accomplish its vision.
At the same time, rather than paying for traditional ads, the company has grown organically through viral attention and brand loyalty. Its “The World’s Healthiest Hoodie” product drop and shareable digital Bio Age cards showcasing users’ health metrics are two examples of the company’s creative marketing. Moreover, it built authentic distribution channels through partnered creators and empowered its team to build personal brands. The last piece of Superpower’s playbook is the strategic acquisition of health startups Base, an at-home nutrition and hormone testing company, and Feminade, a female hormone health company, driving media coverage, attracting new users, and expanding the platform’s biomarker insights.
Looking ahead, the team at Superpower is strategically positioning itself to expand beyond B2C into employer benefits and institutional partnerships. Through both avenues, as well as its B2C offering, Superpower stands to serve a large portion of the quickly growing personalized healthcare market.
